Short bio:
Shelagh Grant is the author of Polar Imperative: A History of Arctic Sovereignty in North America, winner of the 2011 Lionel Gelber, J.W. Dafoe and Canadian Authors Association awards, and a finalist for two others. Previous books include Arctic Justice: the First Murder Trial in the Eastern Arctic, 1923 published in 2002; Sovereignty or Security? Government Policy in the Canadian North, 1936-1950 published in 1988, and a history of Mittimatalik (Pond Inlet) translated into Inuktitut published in 2008. Although retired from active teaching Professor Grant is still a member of the adjunct faculty in the Canadian Studies Program and a research associate of the Frost Centre for Graduate Studies at Trent University. She lives with her family in Peterborough, Ontario.
