Burton Russell, a native of Kentville, Nova Scotia and a graduate of Acadia University with BA and BEd.degrees , later earned diplomas in Physical Education and School Administration from the Nova Scotia Department of Education. For a total of 35 years, he served as a highschool teacher-coach in Annapolis Valley-based schools. Author of 10 books on Nova Scotis sports, he was honored by induction in 2000 to Acadia University's Sports Hall of Fame as a a builder-historian. For a period of 23 seasons, he has been the Official Statistician of the Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League. Born in 1934 and retired from teaching for the past 19 years, he has become an avid golfer, being a member of three provincially-located clubs.
