poet, prose writer, playwright, scholar, translator. Born 22nd April 1930 in the village of Vitolište, Mariovo, Prilep. Graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje. Ph.D. in Philology. University Professor. Long-time editor of the literary journal Stremez. Member of the Macedonian Writers’ Association since 1956. Works: Laughter of the Blood (novel, 1960), A Survey of Macedonian Literature of 19th Century (1963), A Forest Destructor Facing his Cross (poetry, 1968), The Macedonian Verse (study, doctoral thesis, 1970), Green Branches Laurel Wreath (novel for children an teenagers, 1971), Ailing Dojčin (play in verses, 1971), Angelina (play in verses, 1972), Nine Portraits from the World of Literature, (1974), Approaches I (essays and studies, 1974), The Schismatic from Hetini - Dzinot (play in verses, 1975), Samuil (play in verses, 1980), Approaches II (essays and studies, 1983), Another Homer (epic poem, 1988), Insomnia (epic poem, 1993), The last hundred years of Macedonian literature (study, 1994), Another possible reading of “White Dawns” by Racin (study, 1994), I Konstantin the Macedonia (poetry, 1996), Masks (poetry, 1998). Has compiled the following anthologies: A Small Anthology of French Poetry (1964), An Anthology of French Poetry from its Beginning up to the 20th century (1997), An Anthology of Macedonian Criticism (in Serbian, 1978), The Dead Have not Died in us (anthology of 19th cent. poetry, 2000).
Awards include: “Kliment Ohridski”, “13th November”, “Zlaten venec”, at the MES Festival in Saraevo, Medal by the Lermontov Fund - Moscow, “Grigor Prličev” and “Kiril Pejčinović”.
