Born 1934 in Rawalpindi, British India/Pakistan, resides in Germany since 1960, has been research scholar at the German Orient Institute, Hamburg and taught at the University of Hamburg. He has published about 20 books, among them are five collections of short stories in Urdu and seven volumes of translations from German Literature.
