Our Review

The Witch’s Blood by Katharine and Elizabeth Corr is the final book in The Witch’s Kiss trilogy. For those readers who haven’t read The Witch’s Kiss and The Witch’s Tears then you need to read those first and you need to avoid this review because it does contain spoilers if you haven’t read them.

In The Witch’s Blood we see Merry question who exactly she is able to trust and we see her life beginning to fall to pieces.

Leo has been abducted and taken to an alternate reality by his boyfriend Ronan. When Leo first wakes up in the alternate reality he doesn’t remember what has happened to him previously but when he does he is horrified.

“Leo remembered now. The figure of the King of Hearts, emerging from the water. The unbearable, suffocating pain as it took control of his body. And then his sister.”

Ronan tries to justify himself to Leo by explaining that he is fed up of draining power from other witches to sustain his power and that is why he got the King of Hearts to bring them there, so he can use his power and that of the shadow realm.

Leo knows Merry will stop at nothing to get him back despite Ronan’s assurances that she will forget about him. As time goes on Leo starts to believe that Merry won’t be able to rescue him and he will be stuck with Ronan forever.

Merry, in the meanwhile, has to get her head around the fact that Jack is alive but no longer has any memory of their time together. Does she still have feelings for him or is Finn the one she wants?

On her journey to find Leo she meets her ancestor Meredith and her sisters Nia and Carys, with their help will she be able to stop Ronan and save Leo?

What lengths will she go to in order to save Leo and is she on the verge of losing control of her magic?

The Witch’s Blood was a great ending to the trilogy. The story was interesting throughout and the characters were well written.

The Witch’s Blood could be the next big young adult trilogy.
