He was the son of teacher Lauritz F Hov, born in Gausdal, Norway; his mother was Agnethe (b Nermo of Øyer). He studied theology at the University of Oslo 1925-32 (did a lot of his studies at home in Gausdal; the family economy wouldn't allow for his staying in Oslo during prolonged periods). Art and poetry remained close to his heart, and he wrote extensively mainly of philosophical, religious and historical subjects in newspapers and journals from about 1936-92, and worked as consultant to different publishers for quite a number of years. He published a collection of poems ("På Havsens Botten") 1977. He worked as a Minister mainly in Modum (close to Drammen) until 1950, when he became Minister (later Dean) in Sør-Fron (Gudbrandsdalen) 1950-74. He worked as teacher at the Gudbrandsdalen offentlege Landsgymnas in Vinstra during this period. Married to Liv (b Wiborg 1922 of Drammen, Norway) in 1944, three children.
