R. M. LOCKLEY was a key figure in modern ornithology. His well-known experiments in banding have produced much useful information on homing and migration and have helped to establish many of England's coastal observatories. In addition to a biography, an autobiography, and several works of fiction, Mr. Lockley was the author of *Puffins, The Saga of the Grey Seal,* and, with James Fisher, *Sea-Birds*.
