EUGENIE C. SCOTT is since 1987 Executive Director of the National Center for Science Education (NCSE), the leading advocacy group for the teaching of evolution in the United States. She has written extensively on the evolution vs. creationism controversy in scholarly and popular venues, and she has won numerous awards for her work from scholarly organizations, including the Public Service Award from the National Science Board. She is a recent past-president of the American Association of Physical Anthropologists.
