Byron C. Hall, Jr. was a good friend of Elizabeth C. Smith, the last private owner of Blandair Farm in Howard County Maryland, for the last 28 years of her life. Miss Smith appointed him to serve as a trustee of the foundation she was forming to preserve the 300-acre farm. He chairs the Blandair Foundation.
Elected to Phi Beta Kappa, Mr. Hall holds a BS in Physics magna cum laude from the University of Cincinnati and an MA in Physics from the Johns Hopkins University.
Mr. Hall has been a teacher for more than 40 years. During most of his career, he has taught physics and mathematics, but from time-to-time he has been called upon to teach courses in other fields: Chemistry, Earth Science, Economics, Electronics, English, Philosophy, and Sociology.
Mr. Hall has published Personal Recollections of Eight Interesting People and articles in the Lincoln Review and the American Journal of Physics.
Other than teaching, Mr. Hall's chief interests are applied ethics and land and historic preservation.
