Born Lublin, Poland, to Stanisław and Marija. One brother, Jan (died Katyn, 1940).
Trained as a Polish Air Force officer. Mobilized at the outbreak of 2nd World War. Imprisoned in N. Africa by Vichy government. Released by American army. Flew for RAF until end war. Demobilized in Britain. Naturalized British subject 1942. Lived in London, writing and acting. From 1954 returned to commercial flying, working in Portugal, Madeira, England, Sudan, Uganda, Libya and internationally for the UNDP as an aviation consultant. Also wrote and broadcast for Radio Free Europe. Worked in the 1980s for the Polish and American International Refugee Committee in Munich. Retired in Munich. Married twice (Elizabeth Mary Olive Legg, Charlotte Andrzejewska), one son from first marriage (Dominik).
