Born in Columbus, Ohio, a graduate of the Bexley Hall seminary, and an ordained Episcopalian priest, Rev. Henry J. Simpson maintained for a number of years what he called a "Clinic for Personal Adjustment," dedicated to the task of providing genuinely helpful pastoral care to those suffering from various personality disorders. In the latter years of his life, Simpson was rector of Saint Peter's Episcopal Church in Detroit's "Corktown" neighborhood, which was at that time directly across the street from historic Tiger Stadium.
