I was born in Cape Town in 1941 and matriculated in 1958 (Clapham High School, Pretoria).
Was an electronics technician for 8 years and lectured at the Post Office Training School .
Joined Parliament in 1968 as a translator, obtained a BA degree through Unisa and retired from the parliamentary staff as Editor of Hansard.
Published the volume of poems West-Falling Light (Tafelberg) in 1971, my second volume of poems Has Winter No Wisdom (Maskew Miller) in 1978.
My volume Collected Poems (1960 - 2008) appeared in 2008, as did a volume of children's poems Fireflies Facing The Moon,
both of which are obtainable from
franban@mweb.co.za.
I am at present living on the West Coast and am working on two further volumes: A Deep But Dazzling Darkness and World In A Grain Of Sand (children's poems).
