Short Biography of Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahim Nevin by Abdullah Nevin

Born in Kabul City in August 1st of 1929, son of Abdul Hakim Tarjuman. Professor Dr. Nevin completed his high school studies in Kabul Afghanistan (Amani School) in 1940.
In 1947, he obtained his MBBS degree from the Faculty of Medicine from Kabul University. Thus, in 1964 he received his doctorate in Gynecology / Obstetrics Medicine School in Munich, Germany (http://www.frauenklinik-maistrasse.de/ ). In 1962 Prof. Dr. Nevin was appointed as director of Women’s Hospital in Kabul and continued in this post until 1965. Hence, from1961-1962, he served as Chief of Central Clinic in Kabul. Later in the year 1965, he was pointed as Vice Director for Academic Affairs in Kabul University and consequently, in 1967 he was appointed as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy.
In addition serving in the medicine field from 1967- April 1973, Prof. Dr. Nevin served as the editor in Chief of weekly a Political Cartoon Newspaper Tarjuman (meaning “Translator”) containing political humor and jokes.
As the time progressed and Afghanistan evolved into a new era of democracy, Prof. Dr. Nevin was appointed by Daoud Khan’s regime as the first Information and Culture Minister of the Republic of Afghanistan.
During the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan from 1978 to 1979 Dr. Nevin was sent to Pul-e-Charkhi as a political prisoner with other Afghan intellectuals and was subject to torture and torment by the communist puppets of Soviets Union.
After the eventual release of all political prisoners in 1980, Prof. Dr. Nevin migrated with his family to Frankfurt, Germany and again resumed work as Gynecologist in a hospital of a small town Brilon, Germans.
Dr. Abdul Nevin died in the age of 55 of Cardiac arrest, he was survived by his wife Marzia Nevin, four daughters and a son, currently residing in San Francisco bay area, California.

A vast number of Prof. Dr. Nevin's articles and cartoons have been published in local news papers and magazines in Afghanistan, as well as in international media. His political cartoons have been displayed at several exhibitions and nominated for awards around the world.
