Erwin Arnovitz was a medical doctor who graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Medical School. He was also an accomplished pilot, earning mutli-engine and instrument ratings. His oldest of three sons, 1Lt. Richard Michael Arnovitz, was killed in action in Vietnam on August 30, 1969. 1Lt. Arnovitz had a one month old son he never saw.
