Louisa H. Medina worked as in-house playwright to the Bowery Theatre, New York City, through the late 1830s, dramatizating dozens of current popular novels of fashionable themes (frontier, ships, Rome, the orient, etc). She died in her 20s under suspect circumstances related to her boss and common-law husband, the Bowery's actor Manager Thomas Hamblin.
