Francis Lee Jaques was born September 28, 1887, in Illinois. His family moved to a farm near Aitkin, Minnesota in 1903. A wildlife painter, he enjoyed an eighteen-year career with New York City's American Museum of Natural History (1924-1942). Florence Page was born in Decatur, Illinois on March 7, 1890, and was a graduate student and writer at Columbia University when she met Jaques. They married in 1927 and collaborated on several projects thereafter. In 1953, the two moved from New York City to North Oaks, Minnesota. Francis Lee Jaques died in St. Paul, Minnesota on July 24, 1969. After Francis's death, Florence completed her husband's biography, Francis Lee Jaques: Artist of the Wilderness World. Florence Page Jaques died on January 1, 1972, in North Oaks, Minnesota.
