George Olivera was born in 1954 in Thirthahalli, Karnataka, India; he joined the Order of Friars Minor Capuchins and was ordained priest in 1980; He secured M.Ph degree in Philosophy at Jnana Deepa Vidyapeeth, Pune in 1984; since then he teaching philosophy at Deena seva Ashram - an institute of Philosophy and Religion, Bangalore; and now teaches Philosophy at Kripalaya, Msyore. He secured M.A. In Philosophy from Karnataka University, He was awarded Ph.D for his doctoral thesis Toleration as Psycho-Social Virtue from Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome. He is the author of Two books: Virtue in Diverse Traditions An Introduction and On Toleration:From Theory to Social Praxis. He is regular contributor the Catholic Press in three languages:English, Konkanni and Kannada.
