LIDIA VIANU is professor of contemporary British literature at the English Department of Bucharest University. She is the Director of the online Contemporary Literature Press, of the online translation magazine Translation Café and of the MA Programme for the Translation of the Contemporary Literary Text – which can all be found at http://mttlc.ro.
She has published so far eight books of literary criticsm on Modernist and contemporary British literature, eighteen books of translations (poetry and prose, published at Northwestern University Press, Bloodaxe Books, University of Plymouth Press), four handbooks of English for Romanian speakers, a novel, three volumes of poetry, anthologies of contemporary literature, a large number of essays in periodicals.
She is the winner of the London Poetry Society biennial Prize for Poetry Translation ‘Corneliu M. Popescu’, London 2005.
