GELDER MEYER was born in the Dutch Indies. At three years old, he was a Japanese prisoner of war with his mother, his brothers, and his sister. He grew up in Indonesia, left when he was eleven years old, and then went to Holland. At eighteen, he went to live and work in Colombia, South America for a few years, before returning to live in Holland, where he and his wife have two grown sons and five grandchildren.
