Dr. Duncan is an epidemiologist and psychologist whose contributions to the understanding of addictive behavior and its treatment have led some to call him "the Stephen Hawking of addiction science". He has taught at the State University of New York, Southern Illinois University, Columbia University, Brown University, and the University of Cologne. He has also held positions in government in the states of Texas and Rhode Island and in the Clinton White House.
