Mary M. McMahon is a noted criminal defense attorney who practices in both state and federal court at both the trial and appellate court levels. She is well known for her expertise in criminal law matters and her representation of Native Americans on murder charges. She was selected by her peers as a Super Lawyer within two years of graduating from law school. She is an advocate of Native American rights and is often asked to speak at Native American events including prison pow wows. She has traveled to several states to represent her clients, regularly teaches other lawyers, and was an adjunct law professor at a Minnesota law school. She has also served as a criminal justice delegate to South Africa. Ms. McMahon is pursuing her aim of obtaining equal justice for Native Americans in the judicial system through her creative writing endeavors. She currently has two more books in progress. Due to continual requests by her readers, she has recently completed a sequel to Once a Warrior. It is expected to be available within the year. She is currently working on a third book in the series.
