Child Development Consultant

Edna Crabbere is an independent consultant and published author on the subject of Child Development.

Edna's career and professional credentials in the field of child development started at the age of 21. Her interest in early childhood development began when Edna married and became a mother of two. Motherhood helped her developed her personal and career philosophy that a child must be nurtured in all areas of development in order to reach his full potential.

Sixteen years later, Edna earned a professional designation in child development from London’s National Nursery Examination Board (NNEB). She continued her advanced studies in child development, earning the following Certificates in Post-Qualifying Studies (CPQS): Advanced Childhood Assessment and Communication Skills & Assertiveness. Edna’s continuing education has also earned her certification in Counseling, Psychology, Public Affairs, Management, and Good Childcare Practice, among others.

As Edna’s educational credentials progressed, so did her experience with Early Childhood Development. She served as a Nursery Officer in a private child-care center where she attended to the daily needs of pre-school children. During the past decade, she served as the Director of both private and government-aided day care centers, where she worked very closely with government representatives and was responsible for establishing new centers, policy-making, ordering play equipment and educational materials, budget management, recruiting staff, and interviewing potential enrollees.

Now, with more than thirty years of experience, Edna is an independent Child Development Consultant to both the public and private clientele. Her services are also extended to the deaf community, as she is experienced in American Sign Language and currently developing a working knowledge of the Spanish language. Much of Edna’s leisure time is spent writing and publishing books and articles. She is the author and self-publisher of Curriculum Ideas for Young Children, Millennium Child 2000 Combo, Emotional Security for The Millennium Child and Child Development Student Observations, and several short children’s books. Edna has also had many articles published in newspapers across the United States, including the Star City’s very own, Roanoke Times & World News.

Edna's book, entitled: "Millennium Child 2000 Combo" has been endorsed as highly recommended for resource and reference by The Society of Nursery Nursing Practitioners in London, England.

Edna has done several years of research on childcare and education in USA (1997-2006) and has documented her findings and experiences; “American fudge”- ISBN: 0-9746447-2-2 was published in 2007. She is currently working on a title that discusses the effects that discrimination has on early education and the social/emotional damage that people of all races are suffering as a result.

Edna has worked with children in South America, Europe and USA.
