J.A. Valle is the pen name of the author who lives on a cattle ranch located in the Gabilan Mountains of Monterey, County California. These mountains form the eastern border of the Salinas Valley that John Steinbeck referred to as "The Long Valley" in his novels. A native of Salinas, she has lived her entire life in this area. An Arrangement, her first novel, is based on historical facts and stories handed down to her from her Quaker ancestors.
