Born in Yogyakarta, attended kindergaten and first elementry school at Taman Siswa, Jetis, Yogyakarta. Got his first degree in Architecture from Department of Architecture, Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). Accomplished his master degree in Architecture at the University of York, and his doctoral degree in Architecture at The University of Sheffield, both in the UK. Publishing a number of books, scientific and popular articles in a number of international journals and national newspapers. Awarded a professorship in Architectural Science from Tarumanagara University, Indonesia. He currently lives in Indonesia.
