ARNE NESET is Professor Emeritus of American studies at the University of Stavanger in Norway. He was educated at the University of Oslo, extended by a Fulbright scholarship at the University of Massachusetts. In addition to teaching and administration at the colleges that now constitute the University of Stavanger, Neset was an exchange professor at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. His research interests and publications are in American cultural history, iconology, and landscape portrayal. Neset is also a former president of the American Studies Association of Norway.
