Actualmente es Profesora Titular de Sociolinguistica de la Universidad Central de Las Villas. Publicó en el 2009 el Diccionario de bantuismos en el español de Cuba, libro que ganó el premio anual de la Academia Cubana de la Lengua, el de la Academia de Ciencias de Cuba y el del Ministerio de Educación Superior de Cuba.
