Born in Bandung, Indonesia, 1958. Educated in undergraduate of architecture engineering UGM, 1982, and in history of civilizations in master and doctoral degree at Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sociales, Paris, France, respectively in 1989 and 1992 (Dissertation: Architecture des mosquées de Lombok: Evolution et Symbolisme). His main focus of research is in history and anthropology of Indonesian vernacular (Nusantara) architecture, philosophy of cultural politics. He is now senior lecturer and researcher at Architecture Departement, Faculty of Engineering, Brawijaya University, Malang, Indonesia.
