Shelagh worked on a voluntary basis with STAR (Support & Training Against Racism) from 1993 to 2007 as their trainer, resource writer, committee member and latterly as chair. She wrote Valuing Cultures as a self help resource for small organisations that would be unable to be funded for training. It was sold as far away as South Africa during Apartheid, after being reviewed in a nursery magazine.
Shelagh intends to rewrite Valuing Cultures and publish it as a resource for those with the vision to increase knowledge, develop skills and change attitudes.

Shelagh has worked for many years promoting equality of opportunity Diversity and Inclusion with marginalised groups across the south west region UK on Preventing Extremism, Community Cohesion, Immigration, Asylum & Refugee issues.

Shelagh has a consultancy 'Journeying' and was co director of Pax Pontis Ltd , (Building Bridges across Communities) a not for profit organisation.
She is currently working with BME elders social groups towards sustainability.
