Vincent van de Wijngaard, Photographer, Filmmaker

Vincent van de Wijngaard is a documentary photographer and artist. He has had numerous exhibitions and has received many awards. Collections of his work have been acquired by The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and Center for Fine Art of Photography in Finland.Â
He has travelled in more than seventy countries, often to war zones, photographing and also often writing stories. His editorial client list includes The Independent, Doctors without borders, World Foundation, UNHCR, Esquire, The Traveler, Noise, War Child, Holland Herald and El Pais. Commercial clients include Nike, Levi’s, Bacardi, Peugeot, ING and Martini.
He was a board member of The Photographer’s Association of the Netherlands and a jury member for new-media in The Silver Camera contest.
Vincent van de Wijngaard’s work is concerned with the travel experience and the human condition. He approaches the world like a stage. His observations show an unusual perspicacity as he carefully observes light and color, creating an almost surreal atmosphere.
His book ‘Following Van Gogh’, commissioned by The Van Gogh Museum, fired his interest in the artist and he decided to make a ground-breaking feature film ‘There is no blue without yellow and orange’ - set in all the locations where the artist Van Gogh worked and lived. The film was premiered in October 2010 at the prestigious National Art Center in Tokyo and went on tour in Japan.
