Joel Enrique Salgado Hernandez, who obtained a Bachelors Degree in Economics and Finance, Summa Cum Laude, from Metropolitan University of Puerto Rico in 2004, and a Juris Doctor Degree, Cum Laude, from Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico School of Law in 2007, is currently founder partner of Salgado & Jimenez Law Firm, as an attorney at law, since January 2011. He is also a professor of Criminal Justice Department and Social Science Department of Turabo University of Puerto Rico. Some of the courses he has offered are Criminal Law, Criminal Procedures, Evidence, Criminal Investigation, Legal Medicine and Social Science. In addition, he is a regular columnist with the El Vocero newspaper of Puerto Rico. He participated regularly as a panelist of political analysis in Sentencia 630 in the radio station Noti Uno 630, it is one of the most prestigious radio station in Puerto Rico in political issues. He has publications in law journals (Revista de Derecho Puertorriqueño), business newspapers (Caribbean Business) and university magazines. During 2007 he published a book with the name "Espiritus Incompatibles o Almas Gemelas", it is about a legal issue in urban planning regulations between the government of Puerto Rico and the construction developers.
He is the founder president of the Thinkers Alumni Association of Ana G. Mendez. He has experience working in the government. Mr. Salgado worked in the Senate of Puerto Rico during 2002. Also, he worked with the U.S. Congressman Jose Serrano, NY-16 during 2003, in the Justice Department of Puerto Rico during 2006, and in the Government Development Bank of Puerto Rico during 2005. He was also law clerk during 2007 of Judge William Pagan and collaborator of the Legal Assistance Society of Puerto Rico.
During 2001 Mr. Salgado was awarded by the Puerto Rico Senate with the recognition of Leadership for his great skills as a debater demonstrated in the Senate floor defending a law project about the right of prisoners to vote in the general elections. In 2003 he was nominated by the P.R. Senate to receive the Rafael Hernandez Colon Medal Youth, it is a Senate recognition to young leaders. Recently he has received a couple of recognitions; one of them was from the U.S. Student Support Services Program as the Best Former Student 2010. The second recognition came from Ana G. Mendez University System and Salgado was selected to receive the Former Student Distinction Award 2010 by the President of Ana G. Mendez University System Jose F. Mendez. These two last awards were for his outstanding contribution for the Puerto Rican Society.
