Deutscher Designer. 1972 gründete er gemeinsam mit Waltraud Bethge die "Peter Schmidt Studios" und leitete diese, bis er sie 2006 an die BBDO verkaufte. Bereits in den 1990er-Jahren begann er, Bühnenbilder zu entwerfen. Schmidt ist Mitinitiator der Ausstellung "Verstummte Stimmen".
