A. V. Henderson was born and raised in Texas. Now retired, he was a pastor for over 70 years, and has held pastorates in Texas, Louisiana, Delaware, India and Michigan.

In 1976, A. V. Henderson co-counded the Baptist Bible Institute East in Shrub Oak, New York, which went on to become Boston Baptist College in 2002. In 1983, Dr. Henderson became the third president of Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO. He was president for three years, and during his administration the Graduate School of Theology was established.
