[Deutsch] **Adolf Holtzmann** (geb. 1838 in Karlsruhe; gest. 1914 in Freiburg im Breisgau) war ein deutscher Sanskritforscher.
Holtzmann war 1867-97 als Gymnasialprofessor, ab 1885 außerordentlicher Professor, ab 1890 Honorarprofessor und ab 1908 ordentlicher Honorarprofessor für Sanskrit und vergleichende Sprachwissenschaft an der Universität Freiburg. Seine Werke zum Sanskrit-Epos Mahâbhârata gelten als frühe Standardwerke der altindischen Eposforschung.
Holtzmann war ein Neffe des Germanisten und Indologen [Adolf Holtzmann (1810-1870)][1] und Vetter der Ehefrau des Physiologischen Chemiker [Albrecht Kossel (1853-1927)][2].

Holtzman was 1867-97 high school professor, from 1885 on Associate professor, 1890 Honorary professor and from 1908 on Honorary Associate Professor of Sanskrit and Comparative Linguistics at the University of Freiburg. His works on the Sanskrit epic Mahabharata count as early standard works of the ancient Indian epic research.
Holtzman was a nephew of the Germanist and Indologist [Adolf Holtzmann (1810-1870)][1] and cousin of the wife of the Physiological Chemist [Albrecht Kossel (1853-1927)][2].
