Susan G. Burrows obtained her BSN from the Medical College of GA in Augusta,GA in 1969 and her MSN (specializing in cardiac surgery) in 1971 from the University of WA.
She was the very first Clinical Nurse Specialist in CV Surgery at Emory University Hospital in 1972 and continued at Emory until her death in 2003.
She is best known for co-authoring two patient care manuals with Carole A. Gassert through Pritchett & Hull, Inc.
'You and Your Heart Surgery' is written in numerous languages and has sold millions of copies.
She also wrote the first patient care manual for Emory University on Heart Transplants.
She has chaptered several cardiology books, is published in numerous articles, was on a local news channel concerning the practice of Therapeutic Touch, taught at the Emory School of Nursing and spoke internationally.
Her last article published in 2002 was about 'Surviving with Ovarian Cancer'.
