Author: James E. Brunson

James E. Brunson III is an art historian who specializes in American Modernism, critical race theory, and visual culture. Brunson has presented at the NINE Conference, the Cultural Studies Association (CSA), and the North American Society for Sport History (NASSH). His essays have appeared in Base Ball: A Journal of the Early Game, and NINE: A Journal of Baseball History and Culture. In 2009, McFarland Press will publish his manuscript, The Early Image of Black baseball, 1870-1890. Brunson received his Master of Fine Arts Degree from Northern Illinois University, and his Ph.D. in Art History from the University of Chicago. He teaches visual culture at Northern Illinois University.
