My Sister's Keeper

My Sister's Keeper

Blurb

In all thirteen years of Anna's life, her parents have never given her a choice: she was born to be her sister Kate's bone marrow donor and she has always given Kate everything she needs.

But when Anna is told Kate needs a new kidney, she begins to question how much she should be prepared to do to save the older sibling she has always been defined by. So Anna makes a decision that will change their family forever - perhaps even fatally for the sister she loves.

Our Review

My Sister’s Keeper is about thirteen-year-old Anna was born conceived in order to be a bone marrow donor for her sister Kate.

Anna never says no because she loves her sister but then she is asked to give Kate her kidney and she begins to question how far she is prepared to go to save her sister. So, Anna makes a decision that will change her family forever.

This was the first Jodi Picoult book I read and the first book I had read in split narrative form. I loved the way the reader got to see what each character was thinking and feeling.

I read My Sister’s Keeper many years ago, but I can still remember the impact it had on me and the number of tears I cried reading it.

My Sister’s Keeper was one of those books were the film didn’t live up to expectations. I can remember commenting to whoever I was watching it with that some things just didn’t compare.

Since I first read My Sister’s Keeper, I have read many more books by Jodi Picoult but this is one of my favourites and I love the way they take a seemingly simple issue and make you doubt your perspective.
