Our Review

I was enticed by the cover of Trick or Treat as much as anything else and as usual didn't realise it was part of a series. In some cases this doesn't hinder the reading experience but in this case I felt I would have enjoyed the book more if I had read other's in the series. Having said that it was still enjoyable as a stand alone.

Initially I struggled with the book because I feel the blurb didn't truly reflect the content of the book so I didn't get what I was expecting. The blurb presents it as a book about the kidnapping of a child from his driveway but actually the kidnapping was more a sideline and the book was led more by the lives of other characters. I felt the focus was primarily on Imogen and her failing relationship with Adrian and on other fairly shady characters within the book. However, once I realised this I enjoyed the book more.

This was a gritty crime drama and I liked it.
