Time After Time

Time After Time

Blurb

Hayley Cooper, a powerful but now struggling lawyer, fantasizes about what her life would be like if only she’d made different choices. It’s understandable; the past two years have been hell. She barely sees her kids, her boss is trying to sabotage her, and her marriage is falling apart.

Burnt out, Hayley goes to sleep wishing for a different life. When she wakes up married to her first boyfriend, one she has not seen in over twenty years, she realizes there might be some truth in the saying “be careful what you wish for”. Over a single weekend, like Ebenezer Scrooge, Hayley gets to see her life on the other side of the white picket fence – not just with her first ex, but with each of her past loves. But is the grass always greener, and will she ever want to go home?

Our Review

My first thoughts on reading the blurb for this were what a brilliant idea this was for a book. I absolutely loved it and will definitely recommend it to my friends, family and anyone who will listen.

Hayley is having a bit of a tough time in every area of her life. Her boss is making her professional life hell, she can’t seem to find the perfect work/life balance and she never seems to make it home in time to spend time with her kids. Her dad has recently suffered a stroke and since her husband Rick got made redundant Hayley is working harder than ever to support her parents as well as her family.

One night after an argument with Rick she starts wondering what life would be like if she wasn’t with Rick. The next morning Hayley wakes up married to her first boyfriend Chris and the first in a series of ‘what if’ scenarios. The result is a “Groundhog Day meets Sliding Doors” style book that is a fantastic read.

Almost from the beginning I was invested in and entranced by the characters and during the time I was reading it work was very much an inconvenience because I wanted to know what was coming to happen next.

I loved the layout of the book and the way suspense was built by following one of the ‘what if’ chapters with what had happened with Hayley and the other character in real life. It was also interesting to watch the development of Hayley’s life and that of her best friends Ellen and Mark.

This is definitely a book I will be reading over and over again.
