An educator from Puerto Rico Carlota was born in Fajardo. She earned a BA in Sciences from the University of Puerto Rico (UPR), then a MPH, latter she earned a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Chicago. She was married to Joselin S. Ramirez Acosta and had three sons with him (Joselin E., Sandra T., and Johnny). She worked as a secondary school teacher, then after receiving a scholarship an earning her MPH she became a health supervisor working for the superintendent of schools for several school districts in Puerto Rico. Then she became (after receiving a MA equivalent) an Audio Visual Department university professor for the UPR. After over 20 years working at the Audio Visual Department she became Director before retiring at age 65. She is now (03/2009) writing a book entitled--"Como escribir un monografia en un santiamen ¡Y BIEN!"
