Born in Ahi - Ugwolawo village in present day Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Nigeria. He attedended Ochaja boys Secondary School, Ochaja Kogi State, Nigeria, procceded to University of Lagos where he graduated with a BA Hons english and Education. He worked as a teacher, principal and lecturer in manany institutions and also as a career civil servant in both Benue and Kogi States of Nigeria.

He is generally regarded as an authority in Igala language and history.He has contributed ermensly to the study of the igala people and has given lectures , wrote articles and published books on this subject.

Mr Etu is happily married with children and has since retired from active service. He presently live in Idah.
