Norma Kathleen Hemming was born on September 1928 in Ilford, one district of London, England, but she raised in Australia. As Norma Hemming was the Australia's first significant female science fiction writer. In 1958, her first novel was published as Nerina Hilliard by Mill & Boon and she died only two years later in 1960, so many of her novels were published posthumously.
