Sergio Nudelstejer Befeler was born in Varsovia, Poland in February 24th 1924. By the age of three migrated to Mexico with his parents, later on they all became Mexican citizens. All his intellectual creation will be then in Spanish and will be greatly identified into the Mexican intellectual trend. He was honored with the Blaustein Prize, in New York, in 1982, "Premio al MÃ©rito Intelectual Latinoamericano" (Latino American Intellectual Merit Prize) in Bueno Aires, in 1989. And in 1991 with the National Cultural Journalism Prize "Premio Nacional de Periodismo Cultural" among others.

He wrote critics and essays mostly about Spanish and Latino American literature, also wrote about numerous Jewish themes. A very interesting lecturer and speaker thus, spreading culture, human values and literature. By his pen we find anthologies of texts, biographies of different authors and literary criticism, he released this way many intellectual ideas to the world.

He wrote about Jorge Luis Borges, Julio CortÃ¡zar, Gabriel GarcÃa MÃ¡rquez, also about non Spanish writers like Milan Kundera, Naguib Mahfouz and Kenzaburo OÃ©.

Wrote about Jewish literature referring to authors like Martin Buber and Isaac LeÃ³n PÃ©retz. Franz Kafka, Albert Einstein, Stefan Zweig.

And contemporary authors like Primo Levi, Elie Wiesel, Paul CelÃ¡n, Walter Benjamin and Humberto Eco,

Also we have to recognize his outstanding work in defending human wrights.
