Son of Edward Hudson (1743-1821) prominent Dublin dentist. purchaser of the Manor House, Glenville, County Cork, Ireland sometime between 1776-1788. His younger brother was Doctor Henry Philerin Hudson (1798-1889) a noted collector of Irish folk music. His elder brother was the Reverend Edward Hudson, (1791-1881) Dean of Armagh, who is buried in Glenville.
