[Deutsch] **Adolf Holtzmann** (geb. 1810 in Karlsruhe; gest. 1870 in Heidelberg) war ein deutscher Germanist und Indologe.
Holtzmann war ab 1852 Professor der deutschen und indischen Sprache an der Universität Heidelberg. Er beschäftigte sich unter anderem mit persischen Keilinschriften, dem indischen Tierkreis (Zodiakus), sowie mit Mythologie und Epen Indiens und Germaniens.
Holtzmann war der Onkel väterlicherseits des Sanskritisten [Adolf Holtzmann (1838-1914)][1] und Schwiegervater des Physiologischen Chemilkers [Albrecht Kossel (1853-1927)][2].

[English] **Adolf Holtzmann** (b. 1810 in Karlsruhe, d. 1870 in Heidelberg) was a German Germanist and Indologist.
Holtzman was from 1852 Professor of German and Indian language at the University of Heidelberg. He dealt, among other things, with Persian cuneiform inscriptions, the Indian Zodiac, and with mythology and epics of India and Germania.
Holtzman was the paternal uncle of Sanskritist [Adolf Holtzmann (1838-1914)][1] and father of the Physiological Chemilkers [Albrecht Kossel (1853-1927)][2].
