Author: Virginia Hamilton

In the early 1960s, Virginia Hamilton's husband lost his job and decided to gather his family and the family's savings and drive from Huntington, Long Island, to Buenos Aires in a amphibious army "duck" at 25 mph. The passengers included the couple's three college boys, four young daughters, and a dog. It took over a year, but they made it to Buenos Aires. Virginia Hamilton wrote about the trip in *Everybody Duck* (1962).
