Elena del Rivero was born in Valencia, Spain. She moved to USA in 1991 where she lives and works. She is an artist that deals with conceptual issues and incorporates the written word and materials not considered "fine art" like thread in her work. An artist with a great curiosity in crafts, she normally works with the best craft people to produce her works. She is very concerned with materials that make her a very unique voice in contemporary art. She has been using paper as a medium and has been associated with the collective of artists who dedicate themselves to explore the limits of paper. Her main body of work are her letters to The Mother for which she is well known. But her practice includes photography, printmaking and painting, as well.
