Jaroslaw ("Jerry") Iwanus has been proud to call Bawlf, Alberta, Canada, home since 1995. Having earned a Master’s Degree in Ukrainian history from the University of Alberta in 1986, he has worked as a successful businessperson and consultant since that time. He moved to Bawlf from Edmonton in 1995 simply because of a keen appreciation for the small-town lifestyle.
Upon completing his graduate degree, Jerry worked as an independent public historian, proving the Alberta government with various reports pertaining to historic sites and other related projects throughout the Ukrainian settlement area in east central Alberta. After that, Jerry obtained his Certified Financial Planner designation and worked as a financial advisor for 11 years; he sold his practice in 2001. Jerry currently works as an independent contractor with Altario Appraisals in Camrose. He was Mayor of Bawlf from 2001 to 2004 and was again elected to that position in 2007. He is an active member of the United Church in Rosalind, Alberta and has served on numerous other boards and committees over the years.
