Born on August 16, 1943, Prof. Jafar Raza Zaidi a well known poet and critic in Urdu and Hindi is author of more than two dozen books in Urdu, Hindi and English. His book on Premchand in Hindi, is referred as a milestone. He started writing from 'Hamari zabaan', 'Muarif', 'Burhan', 'Shayar', 'Tehreek', etc. in Urdu and 'Sahitya sammelan patrika', 'Hindustani Tremasik', 'Nagri pracharini Patrika', 'kadambini', 'Saptahik Hindustan', and 'Dharamyug' etc. in Hindi.

His translation of selected 101 padas of Surdas in Urdu and published in Nagri are well known for its melodious appeal. His works specially on Sufiism along with Prof.S.Athar Abbas Rizvi of Australia for University of Canberra is well noted. His translation of Persian work of Sheikh Abdul Quddoos Gangohi namely Rushd-Nama was published under the title of Alakhbani in 1971 for the University of Canberra from Bharat Prakashan Mandir, Aligarh.
