Alfredo Giuliani, was born in Ascoli Piceno, Italy in 1919 and died there in 2004. As a young man he fought as an officer in the Italian expeditionary corps in Albania but abhorred his country purpose in the campaign. At the end of the war he valiantly took part in the partisan resistance against the Nazis and the fascists. After the war he took and held for a long time the post of chief administrator in a local high school. He married Angela Vernelli and raised three children. Well read, he wrote a few poetry collections mostly dealing with his war experiences.
