Swedish poet, linguist, translator, lexicographer and journalist. Born in Ramsberg near Örebro. Studied philosophy and linguistics at the universities in Leipzig and Jena (Germany), where he got a PhD in 1859. Poetic debut with *Lyriska blad* (1857). Translated works by Milton, Euripides, Pushkin and Turgenev to Swedish. Also published dictionaries.
